"...just like the light hidden under a bushel: a light shining in the dark is not trying to conceal itself. The body is an image of the mind, which, like an effulgent light scattering forth its rays, is diffused through its members and senses, shining through in action, discourse, appearance, movement - even in laughter, if it is completely sincere and tinged with gravity."
In September, 1994 The Museum opened a German branch or tochter museum at the Karl Ernst Osthaus Museum in Hagen, Westphalia. The inaugral exhibition at the new site is entitled Artifacts from the Foundation Collection of the Museum of Jurassic Technology and comprised of a number of objects from the Museum's newly catalogued foundational objects which were gratefully received from Mary Rose Cannon in 1974.
A version of the Catalogue of foundational objects appropriate to these pages is currently in progress. What follows is biographical information on the lives of Owen Thum the elder and Owen Thum younger, collectors of what have come to be the Museum's foundation collections.
